MIER organizes poster making, slogan writing competitions

Dignitaries awarding winner of poster making and slogan writing competition at MIER College of Education on Wednesday.

JAMMU, Nov 21: A poster making and slogan writing competition was organised by MIER College of Education in connection with World Diabetic Month celebrations, in which students participated actively.
On the occasion, Ashok Chaturvedi, Convener and Secretary General, Diabetes Care Foundation was the chief guest, while, Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions, presided over the function.
Ashok Chaturvedi inaugurated the exhibition of slogans and posters prepared by the students on the theme of Diabetes-Prevention and Cure.
While speaking, Ashok Chaturvedi said that most people are unaware of the fact that they are diabetic and undetected diabetes leads to numerous health hazards. He informed the audience that the focus has now shifted to educating the youth for containing the magnitude of diabetic prevalence.
The judges for the competitions were Dr PL Koul, OSD MIER, Dr HR Shan, Head of Research Wing and Shashi Koul.
Suman Shan, Sangeeta Shivgotra and Tanvi Sharma were declared first, second and third respectively.
Dr Arun K Gupta called upon the teacher trainees to play a major role as key change agents for generating awareness about the disease among the masses.
Among others present were Dr BL Raina, HoD PG Department, Dr Annie Koul, HoD BEd Department, faculty of MIER College of Education and students.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Komal Sharma, Convener, Co Curricular Activities Committee.
