JAMMU, Dec 17: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) today organized the Fifth Research Awards, felicitating its faculty members who have excelled in Research and Development.
Prof Desh Bandhu, Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while chairman MIER, Dr Arun K Gupta presided over the function. Director, MIER, Dr Renu Gupta was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Joint Director MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, Prof SK Sharma, Principal MIET and Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET.
The research awards are a novel initiative at MIET which serve to recognize the achievements of the faculty members in the field of Research and Development. Under these awards faculty members are provided monetary incentives for producing research papers, intellectual property and undertaking specialized projects.
Prof Ankur Gupta, who is the convener of the Research, Project Development and Publications committee, presented the report on research activities at MIET.
18 faculty members were felicitated at the function for producing 4 patents and 35 research papers out of which 22 were published in international peer-reviewed journals and 13 appeared in proceedings of international conferences.
Over the last 5 years MIET faculty has produced over 233 research papers including 61 in international journals and 56 in international conferences. Four patents were also filed in this period by the MIET faculty in computer science and information technology. Three patents related to cloud computing and one patent was filed in software engineering. In all 6 patents have been filed by MIET at the Indian Patents and Trademarks Office.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Desh Bandhu described the research awards organized by MIET as unique and commendable. He hoped that other private colleges would also adopt such progressive best-practices to encourage the faculty to excel in this field.
Principal, MIET, Prof S K Sharma presented welcome address, while Director, MIET, Dr Renu Gupta, Chairman, MIER Dr Arun K Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
The chief guest later handed out certificates and monetary incentives to the awardees.
Ankit Sharma, Head, Electrical Engineering presented the formal vote of thanks.
