Militant arrested, hideout busted

SRINAGAR, Aug 21: Police today said that it has identified the militants responsible for the killing of a cable operator and a student in South Kashmir’s Shopian district and launched massive searches to nab them while a militant was arrested and a hideout busted in Kashmir.
Police said that they have identified the militants responsible for the killing of cable operator in Shopian Hilal Ahmad Malik, the cable operator in Shopian was killed last evening.

Police on the basis of human and technical intelligence identified the terrorists who killed the cable network owner Hilal Ahmad Malik. The terrorists involved in the attack on cable network owner are Zubair Ahmad Turray son of Bashir Ahmad Turray resident of Bonbazar, Shopian and Umar Nazir Malik alias Khattab son of Nazir Ahmad Malik resident of Malikgund, Shopian. Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the perpetrators and will bring them to justice very soon.
Police has also identified the militants, who killed a student, Gowhar Ahmad Dar of Urpora Nagbal yesterday morning.
The bullet-riddled body of Gowhar Ahmad Dar of Urpora Nagbal was recovered by Police from Humhona Mulberry in Shopian yesterday morning. Police today blamed Lashkar-e-Toiba for his killing.
They identified the two LeT militants responsible for the killing of Gowhar as Waseem Shah, resident of Heff and Nazim Dar, resident of Urpora. They said a manhunt has been launched to nab them.
Meanwhile, Police arrested a militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen from Zainapora village of Shopian district in South Kashmir today. Police, 62 RR and 18 battalion of  CRPF during a raid arrested a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant from Zainapora.
The arrested militant has been identified as Shahid Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Ahmad, resident of Kanigam.
“A Chinese pistol, nine rounds and a magazine were recovered from his possession,” police said, adding that a vehicle has also been seized.
Simultaneously security forces today unearthed a militant hideout in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and recovered arms and ammunition.
Police said that a search operation was launched by security forces in Cheki Akhaal forests in Kangan area, following a tip off. “During the searches, a militant hideout was unearthed. An AK assault rifle, two AK magazines and 44 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the hideout. A case has been registered in this regard”, police said.
Meanwhile, body of a former Panch of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was found in Anantnag district of South Kashmir in mysterious circumstances today.
Body of former Panch of PDP, Shabir Ahmad, 45, was found in his under construction house this morning.  Police said that at about 9.30 hours, police in Anantnag received information that body of one Shabir Ahmad Wani Son of Abdul Rehman Wani resident of Wakilbalan Shangas Achabal, Anantnag is lying on the roof (Slab) of his one storey under construction house. “The body bore minor injury on his forehead and lower portion of eye and it seems that the death was accidental”, police said.
Police said that it has identified three Whats App Groups for “rumour mongering” in the Kashmir valley and will book their ‘admins’ soon.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Munir Khan, said that the Whats App Groups spreading rumours will be taken to task. “We have identified three Whats App Groups for spreading rumors. We will register an FIR into it,”  he said.
Police this evening issued a statement saying that “some news portals are circulating the news that Wani, an ex-panch was killed by some unknown gunmen.”
“It is clarified that no fire arm injury has been seen on the body of the deceased, neither signs of any kind of torture are visible. Prima facie it seems that the decease has died due to some kind of accidental fall,” the police said.
