SRINAGAR, Oct 13: In second incident of its kind within 24 hours, militants today raided another bank and decamped with nearly Rs 2 lakh in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
Police sources said that three masked militants at about 11.20 am barged into Ratnipora branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Shopian and decamped with a cash amount of Rs 1,93,000.
The militants, said the sources, also beat up peon of the bank and managed to escape before arrival of the security forces. Only yesterday, militants had robbed a J&K Bank branch at Marhama in Sangam area of Anantnag district.

A police official said that the militants involved in the robbery have been identified as Mohammad Abbas Bhat, Ishfaq Thoker and Zubair Turray. He said the trio is associated with Hizbul Mujahideen and have been identified on the basis of “human and technical intelligence”.
“A case under FIR number 264/2017 under Section 392 RPC, 7/25 IA Act stands registered against the incident in Shopian police station,” he said.
The police said that anyone who gives information about the militants involved in the armed robbery would be rewarded. After the incident, a search operation was carried out by security forces in the area but no one was arrested.
