UDHAMPUR, July 16: Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta paid visit to the badminton hall at Udhampur and took stock of its dilapidated condition, here today.
Mr Gupta expressed displeasure and showed concern over the pathetic condition of the hall.
Agalaxy of badminton players were present on the occasion and prominent among them were P D Singh, Pawan Rigra, Suresh Khajuria, Pawan Kalsotra, Sanjay Kalsotra, Sunil Slathia and Sanjay Sharma.
These players projected demands with regard to renovation of the hall and provision of water and lighting facilities.
They said that there remains frequent water leakage during rainy season, adding that pigeons have also established nests in the hall, leaving the players in the lurch.
They further said that non-existence of Badminton Association mars talent in the district and requested the Minister for framing healthy Association.
Mr Gupta assured the players that he will take up the matter with Minister for Youth Services and Sports to mitigate the problems of badminton players of district Udhampur.
