Minor dies after hit by hydro crane; family protest, driver arrested

SAMBA, Dec 28: A minor was killed after being hit by a hydro crane at Mawa Bazaar area today evening. However, after the protest held by the family members, the driver has been arrested.
As per police sources, a hydro crane driven by Rakesh Kumar, son of Kashmir Singh of Pathankot hit a minor boy at Mawa Bazaar, resulting into injuries to the child.
The profusely bleeding child identified as Harsh Kumar (4), son of Swaran Lal, a resident of Mawa was rushed to District Hospital Samba, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
After completing the legal formalities, the body was handed over to family members for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ghagwal Police Station and the accused driver has been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the irate family members of the deceased along with their relatives and locals staged protest and blocked the vehicular movement on the Mawa-Rajpura road. The protesters were demanding arrest of the driver.
After getting information, Naib Tehsilsar along with SHO Ghagwal rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters.
They informed the protesting people about the arrest of the accused driver.
The officers also assured the family members of the deceased of providing claim from the Lala Chak Bridge Construction Company, in which the hydro crane was engaged.
On the assurance, the protesters dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
