PATTAN, Aug 12: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir today inaugurated “Mir Cricket Tournament” at Government High School Choker, here today.
As many as 32 cricket teams of the Tehsil are participating in the T-20 tournament being played on knock-out basis. The inaugural match was played between Choker -A and Choker-I.
Underscoring the need for upgrading sports infrastructure in the State, the Minister said that several initiates have already been taken by the Government in this regard.
Stating that un-employment is the biggest challenge before the present Government, the Minister said that Government is making all efforts to tackle this problem. He exhorted upon the youth to avail benefits of various schemes launched by the government besides taking active part in sports and other co-curricular activities adding that, the Government will provide every assistance to them.
“Future of the nation lies on the shoulders of the youth and need of the hour is that they should feel confident in themselves” Mir maintained, that every citizen of the State should be proud of this younger generation that survived the turmoil in the State.
Mr. Mir said that organisation of such sports events are instrumental for developing sportsman spirit and team building among the youth, and helping them develop leadership qualities.
