Mir for strengthening cooperative movement

POONCH, June 17:  The Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir has called for concerted efforts to strengthen cooperative movement in the district and urged the stakeholders to diversify and expand activities of cooperative societies to promote general employment and income resources to the public.
Deputy Chairman was addressing one-day district level Cooperative Conference organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Union at Dak Banglow here.
Reminding the participants that the principle underlying the spirit of cooperative movement all over the globe is ”each for all and all for each”, Mir said that the movement has a glorious past and hundreds of selfless cooperators who held fast to this principle were instrumental in its success.
Mir stressed for diversification of cooperative societies into untouched areas in the district like tourism, horticulture etc. He urged the participants to put in cooperative efforts to strengthen the movement in sectors like poultry, diary, agriculture and animal and sheep husbandry.
Others who spoke on the occasion include S N Khajuria, Ch. Shakeel Ahmed, Deputy Registrar Co-operative Societies, Dr G D Bakshi, General Secretary, J&K Cooperative Union Jammu, Bakshi Khem Raj, President, Cooperative Marketing Society Poonch.
