JAMMU, May 18: Miran Sahib zone got better of Bhalwal zone in a close contest by two sets to one (2-1) in the summit clash to lift the volleyball Under-14 girls title in the ongoing District Level Inter-Zonal Tournaments, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana here.
Earlier, in volleyball Under-14 girls semifinals, Bhalwal defeated Satwari by (2-0), while Miran Sahib prevailed over RS Pura by the same margin.
Earlier, Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu declared the tournament open in a well attended function, who while speaking praised the huge participation of players in the tournament despite scorching heat.
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Meanwhile, semifinals position has been cleared in kho-kho Under-17 girls,with Satwari, Akhnoor, Jammu and Dansal zones reaching the last four stage.
Akhnoor, Jammu, Dansal and Bhalwal zones have made it to the semifinals in kho-kho Under-14 girls.
In kabaddi Under-17 girls, Akhnoor, Arnia, Bhalwal and Jourian entered the last four stage by defeating RS Pura, Miran Sahib, Jammu and Marh zones in the quarterfinals respectively.
In kabaddi Under-14 girls, Jourian, Miran Sahib, Akhnoor and Bishnah have reached the semifinals by beating Marh, Arnia, RS Pura and Jammu zones respectively.
Miran Sahib, Akhnoor, Dansal and Choki Chora have qualified for the last four stage, defeating Gandhi Nagar, Marh, Satwari and Jammu zones in QFs respectively.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ZPEOs Sarita Pandha, Jeet Singh, Sroman Dogra, Hira Lal Pandita, Bhim Singh, Ram Kumar, Darbara Singh, Sher Singh and Kiran Jyoti.
