JAMMU, Oct 11: A group of miscreants attacked a retired Judge and attempted to snatch his cell phone and wallet in City Chowk area.
“Session Judge (Retd) Shakti Kumar Gupta, a resident of Prem Nagar was attacked by a group of miscreants at City Chowk on Sunday evening when he was on way back to his house after closing the chamber located in Kanak Mandi area, in the heart of the city”, a police official said here on Wednesday.
They said that the victim in his complaint had lodged that he was first hit by two motorcycle borne youth following which he fell down, adding, the miscreants tried to snatch his cell phone and wallet but he caught hold of one of the accused.
When he raised an alarm, some passersby rushed to the spot but the miscreants managed to give a slip from the spot and fled away on their unregistered motorbike. In the incident, the Retd Session Judge had suffered minor injuries but stable.
A case under Sections 511, 279, 337, 50/177 RPC has been registered at City Police Station and manhunt launched to apprehend the absconders.
