DODA, Apr 2: The body of a 19-year-old boy, who went missing two days ago, was today fished out from Neeru nallah near Galginder area, falling under the jurisdiction of Doda police station.
Mohammad Yaseen (19), son of Ashdullah Natnoo, a resident of Bharat, District Doda, went missing on March 31 and a missing report was lodged by the family members to the police in the matter, a police official said.
During investigation, police found that the youth was headed towards Bhadarwah with two other persons after the Friday prayer, he said, adding that on interrogating the two persons, they told police that they went to take bath in Neeru nallah during which Yaseen drowned.
A joint team of rescuers and police launched a search operation in Neeru nallah and Chenab river simultaneously and after 36 hours of search, the body was today spotted in Neeru nallah near Galgindhar, the official said.
The body was taken to the district hospital for postmortem but the victim’s family furnished an order issued by the District Magistrate Doda, refraining the doctors from performing postmortem as they have reportedly given an undertaking that there is no foul play involved in the matter and the youth’s death was an accident, he said.
The body was later handed over to the family members for last rites, the police official added.
