JAMMU, July 8: The dead body of a missing man was recovered this evening from Ranbir Canal near Pawan Ice Cream parlour.
According to a police spokesman, the deceased has been identified as Vipan son of Jeet Raj, resident of Paloura area falling within the jurisdiction of police station Domana. He said that a missing report of the deceased was lodged yesterday by his family members in police station Janipur.
The spokesman said that as the man was a habitual drunkard and was last seen at Rajpura Chungi near Ranbir Canal, police today launched a search operation in the canal after getting the water supply of the canal stopped and in the evening the partially decomposed dead body of the man was recovered from the canal near Pawan Ice Cream Parlour.
The dead body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for post mortem. Bakshi Nagar police had registered a case in this connection.
