MJR-47 members pay tributes to martys

JAMMU, Oct 22:  The members of  Movement for Justice of Refugees of 1947,  an organization of  PoK refugees popularly known as MJR-47, today paid their rich tributes to the martyrs of Tribal raid in a function organised here today.
A simple function in this regard was organised at Ranjit College of Education here to pay homage to all those innocent people who laid down their lives in the Tribal raid of 1947 on the J&K State. It was on October 22, 1947  that Pakistan Army under the guise of  Tribals attacked the State with the aim to annex J&K State. The first attack was on Muzaffrabad and then Poonch and then Mirpur districts.
The small fighting forces of the then Maharaja Hari Singh and the general public who were totally innocent got killed. Many children became orphans, women turned widows and many were captured and burnt alive and those who managed to flee reached Srinagar or other parts of the State and became refugees. After losing their everything  they are still fighting for justice for the last six decades.
In a seminar organised here over hundred members recalled the sacrifices of these people their tales of woe. Rich tributes were paid to all the martyrs on this occasion. The MJR has documented the names of  more than 3000 people martyred in the Tribal raid and is in the process of getting record of over 50,000 people killed in the genocide. It was decided that a memorial would be raised to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of these people.
Prominent among those who attended the programme included S Suchwant Singh, chief spokesman, J S Sudan convenor, Daya Sagar, Col HS Bali and Dr Padam Dev.
