JAMMU, Aug 3: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) MLA from Bishnah Ashwani Sharma today formally announced merger of three Panchayats of Nowgran including Nowgran, Pritipur and Seora into Bishnah in the presence of Sarpanchs, Panchs, Chairpersons and Lambardars apart from prominent villagers of the three Panchayats.
Addressing the gathering after the merger, Sharma declared that this would help villagers of three Panchayats for speedy redressal of their grievances in Bishnah tehsil. The decision would provide lot of relief to the local villagers of the Panchayats, he said.
He recalled that during his previous tenure, he had ensured merger of 10 Panchayats of Vijaypur with Bishnah Assembly segment, which had provided lot of relief to the people.
Asserting that power and irrigation water crisis have been causing enormous inconvenience to the villagers, the MLA Bishnah said the irrigation water was not reaching to the tail end and the problems of the farmers have been further compounded due to weak Monsoon this year.
“The Government should develop resources so that the irrigation water reached the tail end and the farmers didn’t face problems. The Government should develop lift irrigations schemes and provide tube wells and pump sets in the villages to overcome shortage of irrigation water,’’ Sharma said.
Sharma also regretted delay in repair of damaged transformer by the Power Department, which too hampers the irrigation facilities for the farmers, who have installed their own hand pumps.
He reiterated the problems of West Pakistan, PoK, 1965 and 1971 refugees saying they should be given their due rights. He demanded special recruitment drive for educated youth of the rural areas.
