In a written reply to a question of MLA Mohammad Ashraf Mir in Lower House, Minister Incharge Housing and Urban Development Department Dr Nirmal Singh stated that the Master Plan of Srinagar- 2021 is in vogue.
“The midterm revision of the Master Plan for Srinagar- 2035 is under preparation and in the advanced stage of finalisation with most of the work already accomplished. The draft of the revised Master Plan will be completed by ending July 2016,” Minister stated.
The midterm revision of the Master Plan of Srinagar is being prepared by Srinagar Development Authority in consultation with office of the Chief Town Planner, Kashmir, the Minister stated.
In his supplementary Mohammad Ashraf Mir asked who the real stakeholders of the Srinagar Master Plan were and what was the fun of involving Junior Engineer in the Master Plan? The Minister in reply said: “Our administration is able and Master Plan is not being framed by a single man. It is rather being done by SDA along with other consultants. There are Town Planners and other highly qualified people who have been given the job”
Speaker Kavinder Gupta said the elected representatives should be aware of different nuances of the Master Plan. The Minister said 85% of the plan has been completed and a comprehensive survey has also been conducted by a team of experts.
“I assure the house that elected representatives will be involved in this,” he said. Dissatisfied with the answers, the MLA Mohammad Ashraf Mir, who belongs to ruling PDP, staged a walk out from the Legislative Assembly.
