JAMMU, Dec 8: In a spectacular display of energy and enthusiasm, the Mini Olympics 2024 was held at the Modern Montessori International (MMI) Pre school (London) Jammu Branch, bringing together students, dignitaries and alumni for a day filled with excitement and pride. The event showcased an array of performances by the young talents of the school, celebrating the future of sports in Jammu & Kashmir.
The chief guest for the event was Bilquis Mir, an International Water Sports Athlete and Jury Member (Paris Olympics). The guest of honour was Soham Kamotra, the first International Chess Master of Jammu & Kashmir. The school’s management, including Bhavna Rohmetra (Director), Sapna Rohmetra (Director), Neeraj Rohmetra (Promoter), Pragya Gupta (Principal) and Mehak Sharma (Manager), were also present at the event.
The highlight of the opening ceremony was the Flame of Unity, lit by Montessorians, followed by a charming parade by the little Montessorians. A special segment introduced the Olympic winners, who were recognized for their inspiring achievements in sports. The school also welcomed its alumni from 2017 batch, honouring their past contributions to the institution in a heartfelt gesture.

The event featured an exciting array of performances, including a drill by pre-nursery students, a dance performance by toddlers, a PT display by pre-nursery students and a balloon race by kindergarten students. These performances were particularly enjoyed by the young audience, highlighting the talents of the children.
The Annual Report presented by Principal Pragya Gupta reflected on the school’s achievements and outlined a bright future ahead for the institution.
Bilquis Mir, the chief guest, expressed her immense joy and pride in being part of the Mini Olympics, calling it a dream come true. She congratulated the MMI authorities for organizing such a remarkable event and shared that although she had witnessed similar Mini Olympics events at the State level in Kerala, this was the first of its kind she had seen in Jammu and Kashmir. Bilquis emphasized the importance of hosting such events, as they provide children with the opportunity to showcase their talents. She noted that the toddlers who participated represent the future heroes of the region and believes the event revealed new and exciting talent. Bilquis is optimistic about the future of sports in J&K, thanks to such initiatives.
A parent shared their appreciation for the school’s efforts, saying, “Hats off to the school authorities of MMI for managing everything smoothly. The school handled everything so well. I believe parents should also work equally with teachers for the brighter future of their children.”
Another parent remarked, “We are blessed to have quality schools in Jammu, and I must say MMI is one of the best pre-nursery schools. It provides a homely atmosphere and ensures the holistic development of toddlers.”
The guest of honour, Soham Kamotra, also delivered an inspiring address, reinforcing the importance of nurturing young talent in sports. During the ceremony, mementos were presented to the chief guest Bilquis Mir and guest of honour Soham Kamotra by the school management.
The event concluded with the award-giving ceremony, where Manisha Gurang received the “Teacher of the Year” award and Sunita Didi was honoured with the Best Didi Award. Appreciation awards were also presented to Principal Pragya Gupta, Nursery Class Mentor Sheetal Kaur, and Reeta Didi for their exceptional contributions to the school.
