JAMMU, Aug 20: In order to sharpen the writing and conversational skills of students, Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER organized English Language Week which concluded here today.
During the celebration of this week, handwriting and creative writing competitions for junior classes, inter-house symposium for middle classes and inter-house debate competition for senior secondary classes were organized.
Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER was the chief guest in these programmes. He was accompanied by Rupa Gupta, Principal and Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal of the school wing.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Adit Gupta said that the need of the hour is to improve conversational skills of the students so that they are able to participate in extracurricular activities which would help them to become more confident in life.
Rupa Gupta, Principal Model Academy blessed the students and told them that taking part in such activities would help them to become better citizens of tomorrow.
The competition was judged by Ruchika Gupta, Project Director Humming Buds, Dr Surinder Kour, Controller Examination, MIER College of Education and Monika Marwah Assistant Prof in the College of Education.
The winners of the Inter-House Symposium were Karan Rai of Darwin House, Ist, Nishtha Aggarwal of Einstein House, 2nd and Manik Sahni of Newton House, 3rd, while in Inter-House Debate competition, Purnima of Edison House, Ayush Koul of Newton house and Sandesh Thakur of Edison House bagged first three places. The winners were awarded with trophies and merit certificates on the valedictory function.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Divansh Koul and Shreya Sharma.
