JAMMU, Apr 30: Model Academy hosted the Inter-School Group Song Competition titled ‘Bahar’ to celebrate Spring Festival in its School premises, here. Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Dr Arvinder Aman was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER was the guest of Honour. Other dignitaries who joined them were Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, Pramod Srivastava, Principal, Ruchika Gupta, Project Director Humming Buds, Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal, Manager Academics and HOD’s of various departments.
The Competition witnessed an extensive array of participation from 11 leading schools of Jammu. The singers sang with confidence and spread an aura of pleasant harmony which captivated the overfilled auditorium. The singing was unparalleled and the songs covered by the teams gave a completely new dimension to the competition.
The panels of judges adjudicating the competition were Dr. Dogra Harish Kaila, Music Composer All India Radio and Kusum Dhar Former Lecturer of Music, Shastri Nagar Hr. Sec. School. The judgement was done on the basis of Swar, Taal, Co-ordination and Presentation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arvinder Aman said that the schools and parents should encourage students to learn music as it will enhance the overall personality of the students.
The first prize was bagged by Model Academy followed by Heritage School and Jodhamal Public School winning second and third prize respectively. Consolation prize went to G.D Goenka School and Special prize was bagged by Jammu Sanskriti School. All the schools received certificates of participation from the Chief Guest. Dr. Arun Gupta, Chairperson MIER and Dr. Renu Gupta, Vice chairperson MIER.
The programme was compeered by Aamna, the welcome address was presented by Radhika Vohra and vote of thanks was proposed by Mehul Sehgal, Head Girl and Head Boy of the school respectively.
The programme was coordinated by Manju Vali, Convener Co-Curricular Committee and Amarjot Kour, Cultural Co-ordinator.
