JAMMU, Dec 4: Model Academy, a school of MIER Jammu, organised its annual sports meet at school campus, here today.
More than 300 students of both branches of the school participated in the event.
Joint director, MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme commenced with NCC cadets leading the chief guest to podium for the inaugural event, followed by oath taking ceremony and declaration of sports meet, which was opened by the chief guest.
The highlight of the sporting event was the band presentation by the students and umbrella dance.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Adit Gupta encouraged the students to play hard to excel at national level. He also emphasized the necessity to develop a spirit of true sportsmanship among all the students.
Various sporting events for students of class I to VII were held, which includes Up and Down Race, Santa Clause Race, Football Race, Kangaroo Hopping Race, Hurdle Race, etc. Besides, Karate events were also organised for students of class I to VII.
For students of class VIII to XII, sporting events like Volley Ball, Basket Ball and Badminton were held.
The winners of the events were awarded with medals of honour. The staff members of the school also took part in tug of war event and were rewarded with medals.
The whole programme was coordinated by Usha Chuni and Suman Sharma while the events were compered by Promila Chopra and Sunita Gupta.
The vote of thanks was presented by Usha Gadoo.
