Model Academy organises inter house debate competition

JAMMU, Aug 26: The Eco Club of Model Academy organized an inter house debate competition on the topic “Are we as a citizen, playing our role and responsibility in the Protection and Conservation of Environment”.
The programme was attended by Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, Pramod Srivastava, Principal Model Academy and Vice-Principal Usha Gadoo.
The aim of the competition was to mobilize the young force in the promotion of sustainable environment protection practices.
The topic was selected for the debate topic so that students could be given required knowledge and would become aware on it and their debating skills, which involve elocution, speech making and arguing could also be enhanced.
Two students from each house from classes 8th to 12th participated in the debate competition. The first prize was bagged by Muskan Dhar from Edison house whereas Karan Rai and Priyanka Sodi both from Darwin house claimed second and third prizes respectively.
Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER lauded the efforts of the Eco Club in propagating and inculcating amongst its students’ care and concern for environmental issues.
Poonam Gupta, Incharge, Eco Club was also present on the occasion.
The panel of jurists consisted of Manjari Sehgal, Manager Academics and Manju Vali, Convener Co-curricular Committee who adjudged the participants based on their spontaneity, instinct, interpretation and also their capacity to link the topic to the theme.
Amna of class 10th compered the whole programme.
