Modi Govt’s policy towards Pak, Kashmir biggest failure: PCC

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 28: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has alleged that Modi Government’s policy towards Pakistan and dealing with Kashmir has proved biggest failure while thousands of people are suffering along the International Border and LoC in the J&K State.
Questioning the Modi Government’s policy over Kashmir and towards Pakistan, JK Pradesh Congress chief spokesperson  Ravinder Sharma said that blow hot and blow cold policy of BJP towards Kashmir and Pakistan had been a total failure, leading to sacrifices of  large number of jawans and civilians on borders and in Kashmir valley during this period. More particularly its u-turns now on its approach towards Kashmir and Pakistan, declaring unilateral ceasefire and willingness for talks, when the situation was at its worst because of total failure of the Government, vindicates the charge that BJP Government was confused and lacked any consistent policy in this regard.
Over 374 casualties of jawans, large number of civilian casualties with  more than 3000 ceasefire violations on LoC and borders, have broken all past records of the corresponding periods and the unprecedented sufferings of border people, has exposed the BJP’s failures to deal with Pakistan, in any manner and on any front and its promise of tough policy got exposed and people now question the utility of rhetoric only, leading to escalation of tension between the two countries. The BJP and PM Modi, who used the choicest of adjectives against Dr Manmohan Singh Government for its policy, herself proved to be utter failure to maintain calm on the borders and restore peace in the valley. It always maintained that there could be no talks amidst guns and terror but now after four years, Modi Govt has given up its stand and showed readiness for talks, with Pakistan as well as separatist, when on both fronts the situation has been at its worst.
PCC said that Modi Government’s ceasefire announcement in the wake of objections by the Army and Defence Ministry and dual role of BJP on the issue, has also exposed lack of co-ordination at various levels and the opportunist role of his party on sensitive issues. He questioned what happened to the ‘hit & trial’ policy of the Modi Government on Kashmir and what changed on ground to take u-turn over talks with separatists.
