NEW DELHI : A voluntary blood donation camp was today organised by the Union Health Ministry in collaboration with National blood transfusion council at Nirman Bhavan.
A makeshift tent was put up where Ministry officials and staff donated their blood.
“Our target is to make each and every official and staff of the Ministry to come forward and donate their blood. By the time I had reached the camp, already 170 people had donated their blood and many more were waiting in queue,” said Union Health Secretary, Lov Verma who inaugurated the camp and also donated blood.
He also met thalessimic children who were brought by the Indian red cross Society to attend the event.
“The basic aim of organising the camp is to create awareness. The needy should get blood without facing any problem in hospitals,” he added.
The Additional Secretary and Mission Director (NRHM), C K Mishra also donated blood at the camp. (agencies)
