Mohit, Divay clinch Gold on Day-1 of 68th NSG Judo C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 8: The 68th National School Games in the discipline of Judo for U-17 boys kicked off at the Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar, here today with a colorful inauguration ceremony led by Director General Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara.
On the first day of the competition, bouts were held in two weight categories: -40 kg and +90 kg. In the -40 kg category, Mohit from Delhi clinched the gold medal, with Syed Abubaker from Karnataka securing the silver. The bronze medals were won by Vedant Madholka of Maharashtra and Subroto Roy of West Bengal.
In the above 90 kg category, Divay Ruhal of Haryana bagged the gold, while Taraksh Ujjainwal of Delhi claimed the silver. Mohd Noman of Uttar Pradesh and Aftab Jafar of Kerala earned the bronze medals.
Unfortunately, J&K Judokas failed to make an impact in both categories. Anshuman of J&K lost to Prasanna C of Tamil Nadu in the first bout of the -40 kg category, while Jaideep Manhas of J&K was defeated by Aftab Jafar of Kerala in the +90 kg category.
The medal presentation ceremony was held later, where Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, Ved Prakash, distributed medals to the winners.
