Monga for honorarium to Panchayat members

SRINAGAR, Dec 23:  The recently elected Member Legislative Council, Ghulam Nabi Monga today assured Panchs and Sarpanchs a monthly honorarium of Rs 3000 and Rs 5000 respectively, besides a complete insurance policy.
While thanking Panchs and Sarpanchs of district Anantnag for costing their votes in his favour in a function at Anantnag. Monga said that there are some corrupt officers like BDOs, VLWs and JEs at the Panchayat level who have become a major hurdle for the welfare and development of villages. “There are some corrupt officers, who don’t want progress of the villages. They are to be identified and strongly dealt with,” he added.
Monga also said that the Coalition Government is committed to empower Sarpanchs and Panchs willing to strengthen 3-tier Panchayati Raj in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Hilal Ahmad, Congress general secretary of district Anantnag said, “Congress party under the leadership of Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz is committed to ensure provision of insurance cover and honorarium to Panchs and Sarpanchs on monthly.”
