RAJOURI, Nov 19: Aimed to encourage people for maximum participation in the ensuing Assembly polls in Rajouri district, which will go for voting on December 20, a motor awareness rally comprising of around 200 motor vehicles under Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was carried out by district election authorities today.
Awareness rally started from New Bus Stand situated near Salani Bridge and was flagged off by District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Jitendra Kumar Singh who was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Saleem Malik (Nodal Officer of SVEEP) in district. The passenger vehicles that took part in the rally were sent on different routes of the district including Thannamandi, Darhal, Kotranka-Budhal, Nowshera and Manjakote carrying and spreading the message for voting.
Meanwhile, the private and light motor vehicles including two wheelers present in the rally were sent towards inter-town routes including Gujjar Mandi and Old Bus Stand. All vehicles in the motor rally carried banners and pamphlets with them with the objective to aware people about the positive aspects of healthy voting percentage and also to encourage them to vote in maximum percentage.
While addressing the gathering during flagging off ceremony, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissiner Rajouri said that district election authorities are organising such awareness programmes under SVEEP and more of such kind will also be held in the upcoming days. He also asked all the people present in the motor rally to act as ambassadors for spreading awareness among the common masses for healthy participation in the polling.
On the other hand a similar SVEEP Programme was organised in Sub Division Kalakote which was presided over by SDM Kalakote who was accompanied by Tehsildar, BDO, CDPO Kalakote and other officers.
The function witnessed massive participation of Anganwadi workers and Gram Rozgar Sahavaks of block Kalakote and locals of the area.
