Motorists to showcase adventurous skill through Mughal Rally from June 27

JAMMU, June 14: Around 160 drivers from across the country, including an eight member Team Simula from J&K, will participate in different segments of the fourth edition of the Mughal Car Rally, which will be flagged off from Srinagar on June 27, 2013. The three-day long event will be organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in association with the Himalayan Motorsport Association.
This was announced by Taufeeq Mughal, a prominent driver from J&K while addressing media persons at Press Club, here today.
The rally, apart from the winner of the previous edition, Amit Rajit Ghosh, will also be participated by ace motorists including Suresh Rana, Shakti Bajaj and Syed Ifaq, the youngest driver from India, besides some female drivers of repute.
Elaborating on the event, Mughal, who will be a part of the Team Simula, said that the rally will begin from Srinagar on June 27 and will culminate on June 29, adding that Team Simula will be flagged off by MD Simula Group of Companies, Hilal Rather from Bathindi on June 27, 2013.
Mughal said that there will be technical scrutiny on June 26 and the rally will be flagged off on June 27 from Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar.
“The rally will see around 80 high speed vehicles racing for the top honours in two different categories — Extreme and Time Speed Distance (TSD) or Endurance,” informed Taufeeq.
While the TSD segment will follow the Srinagar-Jammu-Reasi-Ramban-Srinagar route, the drivers in extreme category will race around Srinagar-Bafliaz-Srinagar route during first leg and Srinagar-Simthan top-Srinagar in the second leg, Taufeeq said.
Describing Mughal Car Rally a world famous event, Taufeeq appealed the young generation to come forward and take part in the rally and showcase talent.
Appreciating the Simula Group for motivating youth by becoming first company to sponsor the event, Taufeeq appealed the sponsors to join them for promoting adventure sport in the State.
