JAMMU, Aug 17 : Mountaineering Expedition from Krishna Ghati Sector in Mendhar, comprising eight girls and 10 boys from the remote Sagra and Balnoi villages, summited the challenging Mount Stok Kangri (6120 m) in Ladakh.
The expedition was addressed and felicitated by Lieutenant General RR Nimbhorkar, Corps Commander White Knight Corps at Nagrota, today on their way back home.
These young mountaineers were flagged-off from Rajouri by General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division earlier and after embodying ‘Yuva Shakti’, they surmounted rigorous of high altitude, bad weather and challenging terrain to hoist the National flag on Mount Stok Kangri.
Speaking on the occasion, the Corps Commander congratulated the young boys and girls and said that their success will inspire them to re-define their limits of endeavor and reach for the best in life with hard work and self-belief.
He hoped that their example would inspire other young people in Jammu & Kashmir similarly. He presented the children with mementoes at an impressive ceremony as a mark of their achievement.
