Mountaineers Ambreen, Namrita leave for Delhi

JAMMU, Aug 9: Ambreen Fatima and Namrita Katoch of Mountaineering Association of J&K left today for Delhi to join a mountaineering expedition to Swargarohini peak (20512 ft) being organized by NCC in Garhwal Himalaya. They are among the 20 girls selected from across the country for this expedition.
Earlier, Mountaineering Association of J&K organized a function at KL Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu for the two budding mountaineers Ambreen and Namrita. However, Namrita because of her commitments could not attend the function.
All the members of Mountaineering Association of J&K and its affiliated clubs including Tawi Trekkers J&K were present on the occasion to congratulate the mountaineers for their selection in the prestigious expedition.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Ram Khajuria, Secretary Mountaineering Association of J&K; Everester and Kangchenjunga summiter Nirmal Kumar; Rahul Sharma, Chairman Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu; Arti Sharma, Principal, Apple Kids International Pre-School, Bantalab; Shivani Charak, an international sport climber, Sumit Khajuria, a highly trained veteran mountaineer and Sakshi Magotra, a trained mountaineer and a local sport climbing Judge.
It may be mentioned here that Ambreen Fatima is a trained and experienced mountaineer who has successfully completed Advance Course in Mountaineering with “A” grade and has also scaled Matho Kangri (20440 ft) in Ladakh in an expedition organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in 2016 and Namrata Katoch has successfully done Basic Course in Mountaineering with “A” grade but is comparatively a new entrant in the mountaineering field.
