JAMMU, Dec 31: To encourage and support athletes from Ladakh, Member of Parliament Haji Hanifa Jan visited the Atul International Taekwondo Academy, here today.
The visit focused on meeting international-level Taekwondo players from Ladakh and addressing their challenges.
The academy, running by Atul Pangotra, is currently training several prominent players from Ladakh, including State Awardee Shahnaz Parveen and international athletes Sonam Chopshal, Zeeshan Mehdi and Rinchen Youdol.
During his interaction, MP Haji Hanifa Jan engaged with the athletes to understand their routine, struggles and aspirations.
He assured them of his commitment to addressing their concerns and promised to take their issues to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and the Union Government.
The players highlighted various challenges, including financial constraints, limited facilities and lack of Government support, which hinder their preparation for national and international events.
