MP Superstars lifts 2nd J&K Masters Cricket C’ship trophy

JAMMU, Jan. 8: MP Superstars lifted the trophy of the 2nd Masters Interstate Cricket Championship by defeating Horizon Stars by eight wickets at M.A. Stadium, here today.
The Championship has been organized jointly by Range Police Headquarters Jammu and Jammu & Kashmir Veterans Cricket Association which culminated today. Dr Vinod Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu was the chief guest during the valedictory function, who distributed the trophies among the runners up and winners.
SSP Jammu greeted both the finalists’ teams and said that winning or losing in games is not at all important, but the happiness originating from the participation in sports is a highly cherished trophy.
He appreciated the organizers & Rajesh Gill Coordinator of the event for conducted the Inter State Championship for the senior cricketers by involving players from J&K, Punjab, Delhi and MP.
In the summit clash, batting first Horizon Stars managed to score 75 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 16 overs game with Pardeep Bali 29 runs and Raman Dutta 15 runs. From the bowling side Ajay and Suhail took 2 wickets each whereas Dinesh Sharma, Sadiq & Chander took 1 wicket each.
In reply, MP Superstars chased the target in 11.2 overs for the loss of 2 wickets thus won the match by 8 wickets. Manoj scored 26 runs, Nasir 25 and Sanjay Choubey 22 runs who were the main scorers. From bowling side Hilal and Raman took 1 wicket each. Nasir was declared as man of the match and best batsman, Sadiq was declared best bowler whereas Suhail was declared as man of the series.
Earlier in the last league match Horizon Stars defeated JK Game changers by 17 runs. Batting first Horizon stars to score 101 runs in the allotted 16 overs game for the loss of 6 wickets. Rajesh Gill made unbeaten 45 runs and Hilal made valuable 29 runs. From the bowling side Ravi Choudhary took 3 wickets whereas Bansi and Pawan took 1 wicket each.
In reply J&K Game Changer could not chase the target and managed to score only 84 runs for all wickets thus lost the match by 17 runs. Hardeep was the main scorer with 17 runs.
From the bowling side Rajesh Gill and Shamsher Singh took 3 wickets each, while Hilal took 1 wicket for the team. Rajesh Gill was declared as man of the match. The officials of the matches were Vijay Raina, Ashok Kumar and Amit Gill. RP Singh conducted the proceedings of the closing ceremony.
