MPWs of RDD warn to launch indefinite strike if demands not redressed

JAMMU, July 21: All J&K Multi Purpose Workers (MPWs) Union of Rural Development Department (RDD) warned the Government to launch indefinite strike if their demands are not redressed before August 12.
This was stated by Rakesh Sharma, general secretary of the Association during a press conference here this afternoon.
He added that the MPWs of RDD are facing manifold problems, but the Government never paid heed towards them, which has compelled them to launch indefinite strike.
He said that department came into existence in 1952 and since them no re-organization has been done, adding that the after serving 25 years in RDD, not a single worker has been promoted till date.
Sharma demanded re-organization of the RDD, removal of pay anomalies, count of rendered service from September 1989 to March 1997 for fixing the seniority and pensionary benefits, promotion of MPWs as Inspector Panchayats, which are lying vacant in newly created CD blocks in the State.
Among others present were Arun Misra, Narinder Singh, Sanjeet Singh, Rajesh Saraf, Ravi Verma, Rajeev Sharma, Roshan Lal and Rohit Verma.
