Mudgal inaugurates Badminton C’ship at Baramulla

BARAMULLA, Mar 12: Deputy Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal today inaugurated ‘Deputy Commissioner Badminton Championship’ at Jhelum Indoor Stadium Janbazpora, here today.
Officers from District administration, Police and Army besides, a huge number of students were  present on the occasion .
As many as 85 teams are taking part in the Championship. Both doubles’ and singles teams of men and women will be vying for the top honours in the tournament.
While entrusting upon the students to ensure participation in sports championships, the DC added, “Sports is inevitable for the all-round development of a person. Not only the participation in the district or state championships, but to play at the national and international level must be the goal.”
The DC, while expressing happiness over the conduct of such a sports event, appreciated the enthusiasm of the participating players.
Meanwhile, Mrs Mudgal announced that Rs. 15, 000 and 10,000 will be awarded to the winners and runners-up players of doubles event, while Rs 10,000 and 5,000 will be awarded to the winners and runners-up players of the singles events.
The Deputy Commissioner also distributed Badminton kits among the players on the occasion.
