Mufti to take up issue of important roads with PM

SRINAGAR :  Expressing concern over the condition of different important roads in the state, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said he will take up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Speaking on another Calling Attention Notice moved by MLA Gool-Arnas, Ajaz Ahmad Khan in the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said he will take up with the Centre the issue of maintenance of all strategic roads by Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The BRO and GREF have the necessary wherewithal to maintain all critical roads in the state,? he added. He specifically mentioned Ramban-Rajouri, Srinagar-Kangan, Srinagar-Leh, Kishtwar-Sinthan and Bani-Basohli-Bhaderwah roads, which BRO should maintain so that dependable inter and intra-regional connectivity is provided to the remote and inaccessible areas of the state.
If need be, I will even take up the matter with the Prime Minister to resolve the issue on priority, he assured.
The Chief Minister also asked the Minister for Public Works to take up the issue forcefully with the Surface Transport Ministry so that all strategic roads in the state are properly maintained on a sustained basis. (UNI)
