JAMMU, Oct 12: Bollywood celebrity Mukesh Rishi launched the ‘Logo’ of Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Premier League (JKLPL), here today.
The organizers of the Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Premier League, the most awaited premier league of the state of Jammu & Kashmir held a press conference in Jammu with the official logo launch done by the son of the soil and Bollywood celebrity Mukesh Rishi.
Mr Rishi said that he was excited to be a part of this initiative from the scratch, adding that this Premier League is being launched and promoted by the top brass of the State of J&K with top visionaries, authorities, cricketers and celebrities who are genuinely interested in the promotion of the sport and the welfare of the players of the State.
The organizers said that It is the first league that will have seven main sports covered under it which will include Golf, Cricket, Basketball, Football, Hockey and Martial Arts each for Men and Women. JKLPL has been constituted to create a sports loving society and influence the policies related to sports at all levels for the welfare of the sports persons and sports lovers.
The members said that JKLPL will start with Twenty20 cricket championships that will follow the IPL format. JKLPL Cricket Season -1 is being backed by JKCA and will have a total of 12 teams, with each of them being made up of a minimum of 16 players. With the first season of the JKLPL will most likely kick off in February 2014, the 12 Corporate franchisees will form their squads, by bidding for the Current Local, Ranji (Test,ODI,T20), IPL, as well as for the Ex-National Players, that will represent them in the twenty20 tournament. The teams will be named on popular nomenclature like Warriors, Gladiators, Bulls, Nawabs, Royals, Kings, Cheetas, Sharks, Sultans, Challengers, Dare Devils, Chargers.
