Mukteshi’s ‘bhajan’ mesmerizes audience

JAMMU, Sept 20: A musical extravaganza was held today in ongoing “Display Your Talent” 2014-15, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, here.
A ‘bhajan’ “Mere Toh Girdhar Gopal Doosra Naa Koi” presented by first prize winner Mukteshi Sharma from Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, mesmerized the audience by leading them in  spiritual mood  during Light Vocal Solo Competition. “Koi Na Samjaa Mera Takajaa Kyaa Hai”, a ‘ghazal’ presented by Sumit Bhardwaj from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu and “Pabboh Meriyeeh Jindhyee, Barish main Paai Keeyna Rondhee hain”, a Dogri Folk song presented by Sonali Dogra from Govt College for Women, Parade, bagged the second and third prize respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Sushmita Banerjee and Disksha Kumari, both from Govt Women College, Gandhi Nagar and Vishwagandharv Kaswalia from Govt MAM College, Jammu.
Shyam Sajan, Arvind Kumar and Balbir Chand Beer were the judges for Light Vocal Solo Competition.
A guest item presented by Balbir Chand Beer was enjoyed by the gathering in the hall.
Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer apprised the participants about the rules and regulations.
The programme was compeered by Anjusha,  Bharti Devi and Jatinder Singh whereas Rakesh Kumar acted as time keeper.
Prof Parmeswari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, distributed the certificates amongst the participating students.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Director, The Law School, Prof Kailash Mehra, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Dr Ab Rashid Manhas, Dr Vijay Saigal, Dr Jaspal and Capt S R Dubey.
Poetry Recitation, Sketching and Photography will be held at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, Ground Floor Hall, DSW Block and Botanical Garden, JU respectively tomorrow.
