JAMMU, Nov 4: The 4th edition of the KC Model United Nation (MUN) commenced today with a grand opening ceremony at Multi-Sports Hall, KC Sports Club on the theme ‘Never too young to be a change’, here today.
The event is being attended by about 250 delegates from various schools in Jammu.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Colonel Shulabah Pun who is the fourth-generation Army officer from an illustrious family of soldiers. It was followed by ‘Ganesh Vandana’ and a welcome song by senior students.
Principal Amarendra Kumar Mishra welcomed the guests and delegates and expressed his appreciation for their participation in a three days event which will culminate on November 6.
The chief guest congratulated the School for conducting the MUN which, in the present global scenario, plays a vital role in making our young leaders aware of the ground realities of global issues.
The delegates will take part in debates on relevant topics such as aid for refugees, women’s rights, sedition law, and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in six different committees, namely, UNSC, UNCSW, UNHCR, Lok Sabha, AIPPM, Continuous Crisis Committee and International Press.
The secretariat of KCMUN is organizing the event consists of Vihaan Gupta, Ojas Kapur, Asechan Chib, Aadeesh Nargotra, Archit Bhatia, Saumya Kapur, Archita Gupta, Adhiraj Jamwal, Shoban Sharma, Maliha Gupta and others, while faculty members Bhavna Langer and Deepti Sharma are providing support as teacher mentors.
The event was finally declared open by KCPS MUN secretary general Vihaan Gupta.
