Musaif, Jiyaad hit fifties as J&K scores 232

JAMMU, Dec 3: After slamming brilliant century (100*) against Goa in J&K’s second outing earlier this season, talented middle-order batsman Musaif Ajaz continued his brilliance and scored magnificent 61 runs against Tripura in the Cooch Behar Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament at Country Cricket Academy ground, Gharota, near here today.
Skipper Jiyaad Nazir Magray also contributed valuable 51 runs to the total.
Tripura were 38/2 at stumps on the opening day of the four day match. Abhijit Ghosh (4) and Bikram Kumar Das (13) were sent back to the pavilion, while Arup Datta (16) was at the crease at stumps today. For J&K, Mujataba Yousuf and Govind Sharma claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, put into bat Jammu and Kashmir managed to score 232 runs in 66.4 overs. Apart from Musaif and Jiyaad, opener Qamran Iqbal contributed 26 runs, while Govind Sharma and Vivrant Sharma chipped in with 14 and 10 runs respectively. Musaif, in particular, was in awe inspiring touch, who hit the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance. For Tripura, Amit Ali took 3 wickets, while Parvez Sultan and Saruk Hossain bagged 2 wickets each. Skipper Sankar Paul and Bikram Kumar Das also claimed one wicket each.
