Musaif, Rayees duo help J&K drub Chhattisgarh in Under-14 cricket

JAMMU, Feb 24: Team effort helped Jammu and Kashmir to register convincing win over Chhattisgarh to stay alive for the quarterfinal stage in the ongoing National School Games in the discipline of cricket under-14 boys, being organized by the Government of Telangana, under the auspices of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Mehboob Nagar in Telangana.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored a decent total of 116 runs in the allotted 15 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Promising youngster Musaif Ajaz scored brilliant unbeaten 45 runs off 35 deliveries, studded with 6 boundaries, while skipper Rayees Sadiq contributed 34 runs off 27 balls. For Chhattisgarh, Prabhash was the most successful bowler, who claimed 3 wickets, while Prateek took one wicket.
In reply, Chhattisgarh managed to score 93 runs in the stipulated 15 overs by losing 7 wickets and lost the match by 23 runs. Durgesh top scored with 25 runs, while Anshuman contributed 12 runs to the total. For J&K, Rayees Hamid was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 3 important wickets, while Praful Dhar and Wasid claimed one wicket each.
Now, in their last pool match, Jammu and Kashmir will lock horns with Goa at the same venue tomorrow.
The J&K team is participating in the Tournament under the banner of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
