JAMMU, Feb 18: A Musical Concert of Santoor and Sufiana music by star Santoor player, talented Abhay Rustam Sopori, Ragini Rainu and their team was organized by J&K State Sports Council, Jammu at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, here today.
The first of its kind Concert was organized in the honour of veteran and young sportspersons and sports administrators of J&K, who have worked very hard to bring laurels for the State. The Concert was a tribute to the sportsmanship and never say die spirit of the outstanding sportspersons of J&K.
The Concert was the initiative of Ranjeet Kalra, former State cricketer and vice chairman, J&K State Sports Council, Jammu.
Chief Vigilance Commissi-oner, J&K, Kuldeep Khoda was the chief guest on the occasion, while SM Sahai, ADGP Armed was the guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dalip Thussu, MD JKPCC, Mubasir Latifi, SSP Crime, Arvind Kotwal and Kuldeep Singh Jamwal.
On the occasion, the performances of Abhay and Ragini enthralled the large gathering of the sportspersons, administrators and the dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhay said that he was a hockey player in his young age and had a tough task of choosing between sports and music as his career option, adding that music and sports have lots of similarities.
Shawls and mementoes were presented to the son and the daughter of the soil as a token of gratitude from the organizers by the dignitaries on the occasion.
Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh and Kuldeep Handoo were felicitated for their outstanding show as player and chief coach in South Asian Games held recently.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Arjuna Awardee Krupali Patel Singh, Kuldeep Handoo, Rahil Gupta, Navin Sharma, Aman Sharma and Rajesh Gill.
The proceedings of the programme were beautifully conducted by anchors Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
