JAMMU, Dec 20: A mysterious fire broke out in one of the offices of Civil Secretariat early this morning.
Police sources said that security personnel deployed in the Secretariat noticed flames coming out of the Cooperative Branch situated on the basement of the main building and immediately raised alarms.
Within minutes, fire tenders stationed inside the Secretariat swung into action and started dousing the fire. In the meantime, two fire tenders from the City Fire Station and one from Gandhi Nagar Fire Station also reached the spot.
The flames were timely doused and swift action prevented the fire from spreading to other departments, sources said.
According to the sources in Civil Secretariat, the files/papers and some records had been gutted in fire besides some electronic gadgets.
Short circuit seemed to be the reason behind the incident, police official said and added a case has been registered and investigations started in the matter.
