JAMMU, Oct 26: In celebration of International Infection Prevention Week 2024, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Specialty Hospital (SMVDNSSH) organized the 3rd Inter-Hospital Nurses Quiz Competition, emphasizing the theme “Moving the Needle in Infection Prevention.” The event aimed to enhance awareness about infection prevention through various engaging activities throughout the week.
Activities included a video reel competition focused on infection prevention, a mass hand washing initiative on Global Hand washing Day, a community outreach program, and a workshop on Needle Stick Injury (NSI). The week culminated in the annual quiz competition featuring teams from AIIMS Vijaypur, GMC Jammu, ASCOMS, Command Hospital Udhampur, MH 166 Satwari, GMCH Gandhinagar and the host, SMVDNSSH.
After a rigorous contest showcasing exceptional knowledge and awareness, AIIMS Vijaypur emerged as the outright winners, followed by SMVDNSSH as the first runner-up and Command Hospital Udhampur as the second runner-up.
Dr. Muthu Mathavan, Facility Director, expressed the management’s unwavering support for infection control initiatives, highlighting the hospital’s impressive average length of stay of just three days, attributed to effective infection control practices. He announced that the Annual Award for Outstanding Contribution to Infection Control would be awarded to Dr. JP Singh, Chairperson of the Hospital Infection Control Committee, for his exemplary work, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. JP Singh reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to continually raise performance standards in infection control, thanking the dedicated staff, including Dr Beena Jad, Nitish Singh and Sapna for their tireless efforts in making the event a success.
