JAMMU, July 10: About 150 passengers on board an Indian Airlines flight had a narrow escape when fuel leakage in the pipe of Indian Airlines was detected well in time at Jammu Airport before the plane could take off for New Delhi.
Official sources said the Indian Airlines flight had landed at Jammu Airport from Srinagar and was scheduled to take off for New Delhi this afternoon when leakage in fuel pipe was detected by the ground staff.
An alert was immediately sounded an all passengers on board the flight were taken off. The flight was grounded at Jammu Airport, sources said, adding the engineering staff of the Indian Airlines would reach here tomorrow to repair the flight.
The passengers, who were stranded here, have been lodged in the hotels.
Sources said a major tragedy was averted with timely detection of leakage in fuel pipe.
