Narrow win over GDC Paloura takes MAM College to QFs

JAMMU, Jan 23: A narrow win by 2 wickets over Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura took MAM College to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Cricket (Men) Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Jammu University grounds, here.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, GDC Paloura scored a modest total of 118 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Amit Raj was the top scorer with 30 runs off 21 balls, studded with 5 delectable boundaries, while Aman Singh contributed 15 runs to the total. Rohit Singh and Sangram Singh chipped in with 14 runs each. For MAM College, Syad Zafat was the most successful bowler, who captured 3 important wickets by giving away 30 runs in his 4 overs, while Mohd Nisar and Abhimanyu Gupta claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, small contributions from almost all the batsmen helped MAM College to reach the required target in 19.3 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Tushar Kumar scored 26 runs off 27 balls with the help of 3 boundaries, while Gunveer Singh and Syad Zafat contributed 16 runs each, Varinder Singh and Sahil Sudan chipped in 15 and 11 runs respectively. Sahil was the pick of the bowlers for GDC Paloura, who claimed 3 wickets by conceding 22 runs in his 4 overs, while Sangram Singh and Manpreet Singh bagged 2 wickets each.
The match was officiated by Raman Kumar and Vijay Dogra as umpires, while Manu Khajuria maintained the scorebook.
In another match between Law School, University of Jammu and GDC Kathua, the latter was declared winner by the jury of the organizers as the players of the Law School left the ground after some controversy erupted. Law School, batting first scored 72 runs in 17 overs by losing 2 wickets, with Farooq 28 and Sahil 16 being the main scorers. Shiv Dutt and Vikram Singh claimed one wicket each for GDC Kathua.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman and Sadiq Hussain as umpires, while Manu was the scorer.
