Narrow win over RCC Srinagar takes NCC to finals

JAMMU, Mar 21: Speedster Pranav Mahajan helped National Cricket Club (NCC) Jammu to trounce Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar by a narrow margin of 8 runs in the semifinals to make it to the finals of the ongoing 1st Drug Free Youth Gharota T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, here.
Winning the toss and batting first, NCC scored a modest total of 127 runs in the stipulated 20, losing all their wickets in process. Deepak Manhas was the top scorer with 21 runs, studded with 4 fours, while Pranav Mahajan contributed 17 runs with one six and one four. Manish Dogra and Gokul Baru also chipped in with 15 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For RCC Srinagar, Kuldeep Kumar, Rahul Mussa and Satish Kumar bagged 2 wickets each, while Amandeep claimed one wicket.
In reply, RCC managed to scored 119 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 8 runs. Rahul Mussa was the top scorer with 39 runs including 4 boundaries, while Satish Kumar contributed 19 runs. Sahil Gupta, Monu and Romi chipped in with 15, 12 and 10 runs respectively. Pranav Mahajan was the pick of the bowlers for NCC, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Vijay Dogra took 2 wickets. Deepak Singh Manhas, Inderjeet Singh and Nitin Mehra shared one wicket each. Pranav Mahajan was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
The match was officiated by Lakshya Khajuria and Arun as umpires, while the tournament is being held under the supervision of former Ranji trophy cricketer Vivek Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy.
