National Aerobic Gymnastics Judging Course begins

JAMMU, Apr 13: In a historic first for Jammu and Kashmir, National Judging Course in Aerobic Gymnastics got underway at the Gymnastics Academy, MAM Stadium, here today organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics Association (JKGA) under the aegis of the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI), the course is aimed at upgrading the judges’ qualifications and preparing freshers for the cycle 2025-2029.
The three-day course marks a significant step towards enhancing the standard of gymnastics in the country. It aims to train judges in line with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) guidelines and rules, ensuring fair and accurate competition assessments at national levels. Over 39 participants from across India have enrolled, receiving expert training from Y. Ranjan Singh (Course Expert) and Tejinder Singh (Course Coordinator), both nominated by the GFI.
At the inaugural function, Rajesh Gupta, President of VHP J&K & L, was the chief guest. Gupta praised the efforts of the J&K administration, particularly Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports and Nuzrat Gul, Secretary of the Sports Council, for supporting gymnastics activities at both the UT and national levels.
Gupta also applauded the J&K Gymnastics Association for its role in promoting gymnastics in the region, especially under the leadership of Kiran Wattal, President of JKGA. He lauded the performance of J&K gymnasts, who have won over 50 medals in national competitions over the last four years.
Kiran Wattal, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics Association, was unable to attend the inaugural function due to being on a religious tour. In his absence, Treasurer Anil Khajuria presented a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, guests, and participants.
