SRINAGAR, Nov 13: The National Arnis Championship 2024 began today at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall, Polo Ground, Srinagar, attracting over 300 athletes from across India. Organized by the Arnis India Federation, the event will run from November 13 to 15.
The opening ceremony was attended by chief guest Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, MLA of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, who congratulated the organizers and expressed his support for future sporting events in the region. He assured his commitment to promoting sports in Jammu & Kashmir.
International Arnis experts, including Grand Master Jean Claude Calimoutou, Max Carpin, and Pascal Begue, were also present. They are leading a National Arnis Seminar to help improve the skills of athletes ahead of the 2026 World Championship. Carpin praised the athletes’ dedication, saying, “It’s inspiring to witness their progress, and I’m confident they will excel in international competitions.”
