JAMMU, Nov 16: The two-day 2nd National Business Plan Competition, under the theme: `Think Big-2016′, organized by International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, in association with Jammu Chapter National HRD Network, commenced here today.
The competition has been organized with an objective to provide a platform to the young minds to showcase their innovative, financially viable and socially responsible ideas for business.
Dr M I Parray, Director JKEDI, J&K State, was chief guest during the inaugural ceremony while Professor Ravikesh Srivastava, Dean Academics, IMT Ghaziabad delivered the inaugural talk and Professor Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, JU, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Dr M I Parray deliberated upon the fact that it is important for individuals to recognize the real inner self to demonstrate the latent potential that can be usefully moulded to reap desired outcomes. He highlighted that one must have a sense of contribution towards the society and expressed that the spirit of entrepreneurship can be developed through vision, concerted efforts, direction and leadership.
Professor Ravikesh Srivastava discussed the relevance of entrepreneurial mindsets and the need to think differently to match the dynamics of the present day business world. He focussed upon three words that define a good entrepreneur: Profit, Perseverance and Positivity. He encouraged the young minds to work upon their innovative ideas and take them forward.
Professor Desh Bandhu Gupta, in his presidential address, presented the picture of several successful business ventures that have evolved over a period of time and paved the way for professional, social and entrepreneurial development. He insisted the participants to use their failures as a step closer to success and indulge in innovation and creativity as a key to turn dreams into realities.
Professor Keshav Sharma, Registrar and Dean Business Studies, JU, during his address applauded the International Centre for the tremendous efforts that have gone into organizing of this national level event.
Annil Suri, vice president, Jammu Chapter, National HRD Network, presented closing remarks and stressed upon the importance of valuing the dreams and believing in self and not to fall for the myths created about entrepreneurship.
Earlier, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director, ICccR & HRM and president, Jammu Chapter, National HRD Network and Programme Convenor, discussed how a business plan can initiate a leadership spirit that can be celebrated with the reward of success. She said that management is all about leadership, drive, converting risk into success, managing crisis and creating opportunities to institutional advantage. She also motivated the participants by reflecting that each team of participants have exhibited risk taking capacity and taken a step forward, in sync with the initiatives of the Government in the direction of Skill Development and start-up culture at national and State level.
The competition spans across post-graduate and graduate level, wherein, select 24 proposals have been shortlisted for the final competition. Over 200 students participated today. The business proposals were desired to be developed along functional areas of management besides operational and production aspects. The participating teams, included; Central University, Himachal Pradesh, Central University of Jammu (MBA- Supply Chain Management), SMVDU, Katra, The Management School, Kathua Campus, JU, MIET, Jammu, School of Biotechnology JU, ICccR & HRM, JU, Central University of Jammu (B.Voc.-Travel and Tourism Management), SHTM, JU, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu etc.
