JAMMU, July 31: National Cricket Club—one of the top ranking club affiliated to J&K Cricket Association celebrated its 50th anniversary here today.
On the occasion, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest, while Rangil Singh, President, J&K Olympic Association, Prof Ashutosh Sharma, President, National Cricket Club, Vijay Saraf, Secretary, Amar Singh Club and many others were also present.
Established in 1966, the Club made inroads slowly and gradually in the game and became a force to reckon with winning most of the local tournaments and championships organized by J&K Cricket Association. Former President Iqbal Singh Sethi was instrumental in bringing the club to the top level. The Club has lot of achievements to boast as most of its members had played at the National level and even excelled in the Ranji Trophy Tournaments.
Kamaljit Singh and Sanjay Sharma, both known figures in the State captained the State team in the Ranji Trophy. Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Gianeshvar Sharma, Sant Singh, Ranjit Bali, MM Sharma, Ravi Kant Gupta, Manish Dogra, Gokul V Baru, Inderjeet Singh, Pranav Mahajan, Pranav Gupta and several others represented the State and excelled both as bowler and batsmen.
Kavinder Gupta along with other dignitaries honoured the outstanding players with cricket kits and mementoes and assured to provide all help and cooperation to keep the high standard of the club.
In the end, Prof Ashutosh Sharma presented vote of thanks.
