National Mission on Saffron reviewed

SRINAGAR, Jan 19: The implementation of Rs 400 crore National Mission on Saffron was reviewed today in a high level meeting  at SKUAST-Kashmir, under the chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Dr  Asgar Hassan Samoon.
The meeting deliberated upon various bottle-necks coming in the way of implementation of this prestigious project, particularly with regard to execution of micro irrigation system and establishment of Saffron Park. It was decided in the meeting that a high level committee headed by Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Dr Tej Pratap shall be constituted with Director Agriculture Kashmir, Managing Director Agro Industries Development Corporation, Director Research SKUAST-K, Chief Engineer, MED, Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control and Managing Director National Horticulture Board as its members to identify the bottle necks and suggest ways and means to remove them. The committee will also frame a road map for accomplishment of the targets set for various components of the mission within a time frame.
Those, who attended the meeting, included VC SKUAST-K Dr Tej Partap, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Managing Director Agro Industries Development Corporation, Representatives of National Horticulture Board, Chief Engineers of MED and Irrigation & Flood Control, Engineers of CPWD and others.
