‘National Nutrition week’ prog concludes at GMC Hospital

JAMMU, Sept 8: Three days “National Nutrition week” programme organised by Department of Medicine, Dietetics and Therapeutic unit of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), in collaboration with Indian Dietetic Association (IDA), J&K Chapter, concluded.
During the programme, seminar and scientific papers were presented. The scientific papers were presented on importance of Omega 3 fatty acids in Heart diseases and for general health, role of fibre in the management of diabetes, role of nutritional mgt in cancer and role of nutrition in cancer.
Prof JP Singh, HoD Medicine, inaugurated the three days programme and chaired the seminar session. Dr Sandeep, Oncologist, spoke on cancer and nutritional management.
Dr Vasanta Kohli, Consultant Dietetics and Therapeutics and President, Indian Dietetics Association (IDA), spoke on the malnutrition problems in the vulnerable group of women and children and also about the over nutrition communicable disease, which is the present nutritional problem to look into.
The three-day programme was attended by faculty, Doctors of various disciplines, dietetics interns and IDA members.
The programme concluded with workshop on “Display of Therapeutics Diets” competition among the dietetics interns, which was assessed by a penal of Doctors and nutritionists.
The Administrator of the hospital, social workers and educationists, Ruchi Chouhane Khan and Dr SK Kohli also visited the workshop.
